A Place for Change

Sunday, September 12th I traveled to the opening reception at the Andres Institute of Art for the 12th Annual Bridges and Connections Symposium. The public was invited to meet the artists at Brookline Town Hall, in Brookline, NH. The artists for this year’s symposium are: Gerard Motondi - Kisii, Kenya, Susan Abraham - New York,  USA, Esfandyar Moradpour - Naghadeh City, Iran, and Gopinath Subbanna - Bangalore, India.

This year’s event has the theme: “A Place for Change”. The thought is that in our individual actions and being, we are capable of making worthwhile changes in our lives affecting our surroundings and people in our community. Consideration of how we effect these real changes in our lives is crucial to well being and making the world a better place.

Artists will be staying with host families in Brookline, New Hampshire.  The Institute, (volunteers, host families, individuals, and restaurants) will provide meals for the participating artists.  Equipment, materials, and workspace will be supplied by the Andres Institute and local businesses.

The Closing Open Studio will be on Sunday, October 3, at the Andres Studio.  All events relevant to the Institute’s symposia are open to the public, free of charge.

I encourage everyone to take a trip to Brookline, NH, walk the paths of the sculpture park and say hello to the artists now working there.
